This is an early length of handmade, black Belgian Chantilly bobbin lace. This rare piece measures about 3 1/4 yards by 17" wide. Unfortunately, the chemicals used on the silk thread have caused deterioration and the piece is extremely fragile and tears very easily. As you can see from the photos, it has holes throughout and 1/4 yard is particularly bad. However, it is still a wonderful piece of lace. I have had it professionally identified as completely handmade.

This is a wonderful old embroidery, probably English and dating to the 19th Century. It depicts a woman sitting under a tree. The piece is constructed of different wool fabrics that have been appliqued onto a backing and then embroidered. The embroidery is tacked onto a wooden frame and measures 15" x 12 1/2".
