VICTORIAN 14k Gold & Hair Mourning Bracelet c.1850-70 Catalogue: Estate Jewelry: Gold: Victorian: Pre 1900 item# 441071

This is a really wonderful Victorian 14k gold and hair bracelet, c. 1850-70. The bracelet consists of nine rows of table-worked hair in four different weaves. These rows were each woven separately and then joined together. The clasp and etched findings are 14k yellow gold. The clasp has braided hair under crystal and a border of black onyx or French jet. The bracelet has an inside circumference of about 6 1/4" and is 1 3/8" wide at the clasp. It is in really excellent condition with no damage to the hair. One of the black stones is cracked, but because it's black, this is only visible with a loupe. All parts test 14k gold except the safety chain which is gold-filled with significant loss to the gold, but the chain could easily be removed from the bracelet.

This is a wonderful late Victorian finely carved shell cameo pin or pendant with 10k yellow gold frame. The frame has nicely detailed bright cut decoration. The cameo measures 2" x 1 1/2" and is in excellent condition. There is a hinged bail so it can be worn as a pendant or a pin. It is marked 10k and dates to about 1900.

This is a very fine Victorian 14k yellow gold and onyx fob locket, c. 1880. The locket measures 1 5/8" (including the ring) x 1" and is in really excellent condition with no chips or damage to the stone. There is a gold shield cartouche riveted to the front of the locket and a gold diamond on the back. The original inserts are still in the locket and one glass. The glass for the second photo is missing. The locket has a nice tight snap and is not marked, but tests 14k gold.

This is a wonderful Victorian 14k yellow gold heart pendant with tableworked hair. The pendant hangs on a fine 14k gold chain. The heart is in really excellent condition with no damage to the hairwork and measures 5/8" x 5/8". It has woven hair set into both sides of the heart. The chain measures 16" and is marked 14k.

This is a gorgeous pair of Victorian 14k yellow gold, onyx and seed pearl earrings, c. 1880. The earrings have three onyx drops and have great movement. They measure 2 1/2" from the top of the wires and are 8/16" wide. The earrings are in really excellent condition with no chips to the stones or other damage. They are not marked, but test 14k gold.

This is a gorgeous Victorian gold filled Etruscan Revival locket and chain, c. 1880. The locket has lovely detail with beading, applied wirework and three seed pearls. The back opens to hold a momento or picture and it still has the original glass. The locket measures 2 3/8" (including the ring) x 1 1/4". The chain measures 18" long and it has a diameter of 3/16". Both the locket and chain are in excellent condition.

This is a lovely 12k yellow gold Etruscan Revival Victorian locket pendant, c. 1870. The locket has detailed beadwork and applied wirework with three seed pearls set in the center and a large bail. The back is rose gold and lifts up to hold a photo or keepsake. The original glass and insert are missing. The locket measures 1 3/4" including the bale by 7/8" and is in excellent condition. The back of the locket that lifts up has a few dings.

This is a lovely Victorian 14k gold and micromosaic pin with a figure of a peasant woman, c. 1860. The pin has a pretty frame with applied twisted wire decoration and measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/4". The pin is in excellent condition with the original tube hinge. The c-clasp has been replaced.

This is a lovely pair of Victorian goldfilled earrings set with onyx, c. 1880. The bevelled onyx stones are 3/16" high and are set with a small gold flower with a pearl in the center. The earrings measure 2" long from the top of the wires and 7/8" wide. They are in excellent condition and have replacement 10k gold wires.

This is a fine Victorian 14k yellow gold watch chain and slide, c. 1890. The slide is set with seed pearls and Persian turquoise and has a very nice applied floral design. The watch chain measures 47" and is 2mm in diameter. The slide is 3/4" x 9/16" and 1/4" deep. Both the chain and slide are in excellent condition. The slide is marked 14k and the chain tests 14k gold - total weight is 23 grams.
