This is a fabulous Mexican sterling necklace and matching bracelet by Abraham Paz, c. 1950s. Fred Davis bought from a few master silversmiths in Mexico City and marked them with his mark "FD". Abraham Paz was one of those silversmiths and it is rare to find a set with his mark ("AP"). Penny Morrill states in her book "Mexican Silver" and referring to Fred Davis: "Not every piece signed "FD" originated in his imagination, he also bought what he liked from master silversmiths Abraham Paz, Ezequiel Gomez and Valentin Vidaurreta". The pre-Colombian design of the set is reminiscent of pieces signed by Davis. The necklace measures 15 1/2" x 1 1/8" and the bracelet is 7 1/2" x 1 1/4". Both pieces are in excellent condition and are signed "Sterling Mexico" "AP" and bear the eagle assay mark with no. 22 in the center.
