This is a fabulous Victorian seed pearl necklace, c. 1850. This jewelry was popular with brides in the first half of the 19th Century - tiny seed pearls were strung on horsehair and mounted on mother-of-pearl shapes to form delicate jewels - typically with floral designs as is the case with this necklace. It is hard to find such pieces in tact because they are fragile. This necklace measures 19 1/2" long, with the center piece measuring 2 7/8" from the top to bottom. Overall condition is excellent - there are a couple of old repairs on the back (see photos) and some minor discoloration to some of the old glue on the back which shows in a couple of tiny spots on the front. The necklace has a gold tongue in groove clasp and closes securely.
