| This is a wonderful late 19th century, handcrafted and engraved 830 silver solje pin by Tostrup, Norway, c. 1891. Tostrup was founded in 1832 and is one of the oldest Norwegian silversmith firms. The pin has two long drops each with a Maltese cross and three convex discs. The underside of the discs are gold washed. The pin is in really excellent condition with the original tube hinge and c-clasp. It is marked "830 Tostrup 1891" and measures 1 1/4" x 3 1/2" (the crosses are each 7/8" wide). A similar pin by David Andersen from the same period can be seen on p. 125 of "Collectible Silver Jewelry" by Rezazadeh. | |||||||
